The Lennon boys might look alike, but there the resemblance ends...

With his intense, probing eyes and famous Lennon nose, Julian looks every inch his father's son. But despite so obviously inheriting the ex-Beatle's genes, his feelings toward John are ambivalent, to say the least.

'Dad was a hypocrite,' say 35 - year- old Julian bluntly. 'He talked about love and peace but could never show it to the people closest to him. How can you talk about love and peace and have a family in bits and pieces? You can't if you're honest with yourself.'

Despite being the son of one of the world's richest rock stars, the young Julian's life wasn't easy. After John left his mother Cynthia for Yoko Ono, she struggled to the very clothes on his back. And while he was devastated by John's murder in 1980, he faced a bitter 16 - year court battle before being awarded a share of his father's £220 million estate.

This helps explain why he's dedicated his latest album Photograph Smile to stepdad Robert Brassanini who, he says, 'has been more of a father than anybody.'
